How To Burn Belly Fat Fast

Wouldn’t it be great if we could target weight loss to specific areas? If we could lose weight in our flabby sections and keep our shape in others? Unfortunately we know that this isn’t actually possible. But don’t throw your towel in just yet because you can still achieve your fitness goals as you work on your overall fitness!

The belly is one of the most common places to gain extra fat, unfortunately it can also prove to be a difficult place to lose it. That’s not to say that doing exercises that target your core are pointless, quite the contrary! Incorporating 50 daily sit-ups into your plan of action will increase your abdominal muscles so that as you begin to lose that extra chub, the definition of your stomach muscles will start to show through giving you that toned definition you are after.

If you carry around too many extra pounds on your tummy then working towards a flat stomach is not only going to improve your physical appearance, it will also lowers your risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease.

So how is it done? How can you remove that tummy tub and reveal the slim sexy you that is hiding underneath?

The answer is simple: A balanced combination of diet and exercise!

Diet is an incredibly important factor to consider when working towards getting rid of belly fat. As they say, ‘You are what you eat’, so if you are constantly eating donuts and deep fried chicken, then you cannot act surprised if you store some of this fat and sugar on your belly. So consider these following diet points to help you achieve your flat stomach goals:

  • Avoid sugar: Sugar is body fats worst enemy. So if you are a sucker for dessert, munching on an occasional candy bar or guzzling fizzy drink, you are only adding to the insult of your own belly! Even fruit juice contains a high a concentrated amount of sugar (yes even the 100% juices!) which means they should be avoided. If you love your OJ in the morning, try using ¼ juice to ¾ water.
  • Avoid Simple Carbohydrates: Simple carbs include all the processed forms of grains as well as sugars. So this means white breads, pastries, white pastas and even white rice! Try to stick with complex carbs such as whole grain products and brown rice to ensure you are getting all the energy you need, as well as ensuring that nice long lasting full feeling!
  • Eat fresh: Eating fresh foods and avoiding highly processed foods such as frozen pies, processed meats, tinned meals and bottled sauces, will ensure that you are receiving all the vital nutrients you need on a daily basis whilst avoiding all those nasty fats, sugars and simple carbs that end up being stored as fat. Make sure your diet is balanced and incorporates a healthy combination of vegetables, fruits, grains, lean meats and dairy. If you are vegetarian or vegan, ensure you are getting enough protein from other sources such as soy products, nuts and seeds.

Exercise is also integral to losing weight. It is no good just eating the right foods to help remove fat that has already been stored on the belly, you need to actively work it off. So consider these following workout tips to help you burn that fat as effectively as possible!

  • Aerobic exercise = fats enemy: This means to lose that unwanted belly you need to get moving and keep moving. Try to incorporate 30 minutes of aerobic exercise into your daily workout plan and complement it with some resistance training.
  • Resistance training: It is true that aerobic training is the best way of slimming down because of the high rate of calories you burn during your workout, however resistance training also burns calories and has an added benefit of gaining lean muscle mass. The reason why this is so helpful in slimming down and toning up is that muscle contractions require energy. So simply having more muscle tone means you are burning more calories whilst you participate in your everyday activities!
  • Tone your belly: As mentioned earlier, doing abdominal focused workouts won’t actually target the fat in this area, however it will help you develop definition and muscles, which will continue to burn calories even when you are not working out.
